about me

I’ve been doing this web thing for 17 years now – since 1995.
As a Client-Side Developer, I specialize in XHTML, CSS and JavaScript. I pay special attention to User Interface Design and best practices in User Experience, such as Responsive Web Design. I write semantic markup – HTML5 and CSS3. My JavaScript talents are mainly related to DOM manipulation and AJAX, (I’m still honing my skills with regular expressions). I also have experience w/ most of the popular frameworks, such as jQuery, MooTools, Dojo, Prototype, Scriptaculous, etc. I’ve become a half-decent WordPress badass as well – a lot of the sites in my portfolio are driven by WordPress.
As a Project Manager, I have been in charge of many web projects. Being the client-side “monkey-in-the-middle”, I fell into this position easily – as an “integrator” at first – managing design assets from graphic designers and flash developers on the front-end for incorporation into the GUI – and working w/ back-end developers of all sorts on marrying the client-side with robust server-side functionality. Working with clients on specifications and then translating these needs to the development team is something that I am very good at.
As an Entrepreneur, I am the founder and CVO of the web startup, schmedley. I am also currently involved in a number of stealth startups that should reach the general public soon…
